A major upgrade: build your aircheck in Riano Studio, and a page of your own to send it from

Mark your best breaks while you listen, cut them into one aircheck in Riano Studio, and put it on a page of your own at showpreppro.com/@yourname.

Every host I know has the same folder. Somewhere on a laptop there’s a pile of airchecks nobody has listened to since the day they were recorded, and a half-finished demo that’s been “nearly done” for two years. The good breaks are in there. Getting them out, trimmed, in order and in front of a program director is the part nobody ever has an afternoon for.

ShowPrepPro already records you on the air with one button and files every clip beside the script you read. As of today it does the rest of the job too. This is the biggest upgrade we’ve shipped: three new things that work as one.

1. Mark the good ones while you listen

Every clip now has a + Reel button, wherever you can play it: on Recordings in Body of Work, on each show day in Body of Work, on a break’s own page, and on every break of The Whole Show. You hear a break land, you press it. It saves without stopping the clip, and you keep listening.

That’s the whole habit. You don’t have to decide today what goes on your demo. You only have to notice when something worked, which you were doing anyway.

2. Build the aircheck in Riano Studio

Riano Studio is an aircheck editor built into ShowPrepPro. Open it and everything you marked is waiting at the top, under Ready for your aircheck, from any day you recorded, in the order you marked it.

Then Download it as one M4A file that plays on any phone, or Save to my reels to come back and change it next week. There’s no software to install and no file to upload. It all happens in your browser, from clips that are already there.

3. A page of your own to send it from

Everyone can have a public page at showpreppro.com/@yourname, free, whether or not they subscribe. It’s built to be the link you put in an email to a PD:

You choose how it looks: three surfaces, two typefaces, eight accent colors, two layouts, and the sections in whatever order you want. Every combination was designed to look like it belongs on a talent agent’s desk. You won’t find play counts, badges or empty sections on it, or anything else that makes a host look small.

Nothing on it is public until you say so. The page is off until you turn it on, and each aircheck and break goes on it one at a time. The editor shows you exactly what people will see, at phone and desktop width, before anyone else does.

And if you’d rather send one aircheck to one PD without putting it on a page, make a private link. It plays that reel for whoever has it, and stops working the moment you turn it off.

How to start

  1. Press Aircheck on the rail the next time you open the mic. If it isn’t there, add your stream first; we can look it up from your call letters.
  2. Hear it in Recordings and press + Reel on the breaks that worked.
  3. Open Riano Studio, add them, trim, and save.
  4. Go to My Page, pick your address, feature the reel and turn it on.

One thing worth saying plainly: an aircheck is your station’s broadcast, and it can have music in it. Publish talk, not songs, and make sure your station’s OK with it. Trimming the music off is exactly what the editor is for.

Hearing yourself back is the habit every PD preaches and almost nobody keeps. Now the work you do keeping it turns into something you can send.

ShowPrepPro is $19 a month, and you can try all of it free for 14 days.
